Our history in cybersecurity
2000
It was founded in 2000 as a startup incubated at the Center for Advanced Studies and Systems of Recife (C.E.S.A.R.), within the Porto Digital environment, one of the main and most advanced technology hubs in the country.
2003
In 2003, to increase its share of the Brazilian market, Tempest spun off from C.E.S.A.R. The following year, in 2004, it opened an office in São Paulo.
2006
In 2006, the company launched its Managed Security Services (MSS), enabling organizations to strike a balance between operational efficiency and security.
2013
Thirteen years after its founding, Tempest took another step toward expansion, this time crossing the ocean: believing that its technical expertise was world-class—Brazil being one of the countries with the highest number of cyberattacks in the world— the company opened its London branch in 2013.
2015
In 2015, it made its first acquisition: it bought El Pescador and began activities in the area of training, security awareness, and phishing tests (a technique used by criminals to deceive users and obtain confidential information, such as login details, passwords, and credit card details).
2017
In 2017, Tempest announced FIP – EMBRAER Aerospace Fund – as its new shareholder. The operation marked a new phase for the company and reinforced its growth plan based on three pillars: expansion of internationalization, diversification of the portfolio of offerings, and increased investments – in team, research and development, and also in new acquisitions.
2018
In 2018, Tempest acquired EZ-Security, one of the country’s leading companies in the integration of cybersecurity technology products. Founded in 1999, the company served customers in Brazil and Latin America, a region where it established itself as one of the leaders in Symantec and McAfee’s business.
This company is widely recognized for its high level of expertise in integrating highly complex and high value-added technologies for corporations, especially in the diagnosis, prevention, and leakage of data. The business expanded Tempest’s operations, creating the largest company specializing in cybersecurity in Brazil.
2019
In 2019, Tempest completed the sale of its El Pescador business unit to KnowBe4, the world’s most popular provider of integrated digital security awareness training and simulated phishing platform.
2020
In 2020, Tempest gained a major partner to remain at the forefront of cybersecurity: it received a large investment from Embraer, resulting in one of the largest investments ever made in the history of the cybersecurity sector in Latin America.
In addition to opening up new markets for the company, such as defense, aerospace, and critical infrastructure, Embraer’s entry reinforces that cybersecurity has become an increasingly strategic issue for businesses.
2021
In 2021, despite the challenges imposed by the overall scenario and social context, and in the face of the economic and political instability that the Brazilian market has faced in recent years, Tempest recorded impressive figures and achieved 45% growth in revenue compared to the previous year.
This strengthened its position as the leading pure play company in the Brazilian cybersecurity market. More than 1,000 security projects were carried out, with around 850 in security consulting alone, such as intrusion testing (Pentest), threat modeling, and vulnerability scanning.
2022
Over its nearly 22 years, Tempest has helped protect more than 500 companies of all sizes and sectors, including large companies in the financial, retail, e-commerce, industrial, and healthcare sectors, serving domestic and international clients through its teams in Brazil and the United Kingdom.
Throughout its history, Tempest has consolidated its business by combining technical expertise, solid methodology, and high technology to deliver a portfolio of more than 70 solutions, including Consulting, Digital Identity (SaaS), Managed Security Services, and Integration, reinforcing its comfortable position as the largest end-to-end cybersecurity partner in the market.

About the Partnership
Announced in 2020, the partnership was built to maintain the independence, autonomy, agility, and entrepreneurial motivation of the Tempest team.
In a world increasingly impacted by persistent and routine cyberattacks on companies of all sizes and segments, the strategic partnership between Tempest and Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace engineering company, will boost the growth of the largest cybersecurity company in the country into new markets, such as defense, aerospace, and critical infrastructure.
The digitization of business is growing exponentially, and cybercrime is keeping pace. There is an increasing need for issues such as digital fraud, leaks, attacks by cybercriminals, and digital privacy to be on the agenda of C-level leadership in companies.
In this way, the partnership with Embraer will broaden this discussion, which is essential for the resilience of businesses and companies and the reputation and credibility of brands.
THE FUTURE OF CYBERSECURITY IS READY TO TAKE OFF.
